Name of Pawn Shop: California Jewelry & Coin, Inc.
How long have you been a pawnbroker? 12 years
How long have you been a member of CAPA? 12 years
Why did you join CAPA? CAPA had a great reputation of helping educate the people in our industry and my wife was a member already! What do you enjoy most or you like most about being a member of CAPA? Knowing I am part of the solution, rather than part of the problem. I get information on law changes, etc, that I would otherwise most likely not know.
What do you love most about being a pawnbroker? For the first time in my professional career, I am rewarded for being nice and helping people.
Who inspires you? In the pawn industry, Sam Shocket, of course. Outside of that, in the rest of the world, people that do more than the least expected.
If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose? Sam Shocket. We all know we can turn to him to learn how to do things the right way. Anything else is just a shortcut that may be putting ourselves, or customers, at risk.
What’s one thing – either industry-related or not – you learned in the last month? I was surprised o find out how many people do not have a good AML program in place. To me, there is no reason to push the limits and jeopardize my livelihood to make 20 dollars. There are reasons there are rules and we should do our best to follow them, whether its convenient or inconvenient. The rules are the rules
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know? I never had any inkling that I would be in this industry. I did it because I had no other options after the crash in 2008 and ended up doing something that I absolutely love every day.
Valentine’s Day can be an excellent opportunity for your pawn business to increase your profits and attract new customers. Whatever marketing strategy you choose, make sure it will appeal to your target audience. And be sure to promote it extensively in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day.
How can you make the most of this holiday? Here are some marketing ideas that you can use to get the most out of this romantic holiday:
1) Run a special promotion or sale.
Valentine’s Day is an excellent opportunity to run a special promotion or sale. For example, you can offer discounts on jewelry, watches, and other popular items during this time of year. Or you could run a contest or giveaway and give away gift certificates or other prizes.
Rephrase the “buy one, get one free” discounts and run Valentine’s Day-themed discount campaign called “Two for one” deals.
You can create marketing materials such as flyers, posters, and email newsletters to let your customers know about the promotions you’re running. You can also post about them on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. In addition, you should try to get ahead of potential consumers by creating a live event on Facebook. You may also test a quick LIVE and offer gift suggestions to your audience.
The more people know about your promotions, the more likely they will take advantage of them.
2) Offer gift certificates.
Gift certificates are a great way to get new customers in the door. They can be used for any purchase, so they’re perfect for people who aren’t sure what they want.
You can offer gift certificates in different denominations, or you could give a discount on purchases when they’re used. You could also put a time limit on them so that they have to be used within a certain amount of time.
Make sure to promote your gift certificates online and offline. Let your customers know about them through social media, email marketing, and print advertising.
3) Create a Valentine’s Day-themed marketing campaign.
You could create marketing materials that are specifically for Valentine’s Day. Use heart-shaped graphics, promote romantic items, or develop creative slogans that will grab people’s attention. Try featuring jewelry that is “perfect for Valentine’s Day.”
You can also run a campaign of love-themed polls on your business’s social media platforms. For your store, you can decorate it with Valentine’s Day decorations. You could also offer a free gift-wrapping service for any items purchased as gifts.
4) Invest in high-quality photographs.
Why? You can utilize these photographs in many media, including direct mail marketing, your website, social networking posts, and other materials. When people see a high-quality image, it can help to create a positive impression of your business.
When you’re taking photographs for marketing purposes, remember to capture the essence of what you’re selling. For example, if you’re marketing jewelry, take pictures that show off the sparkle and glamour of the pieces. If you’re marketing a romantic dinner package, try staging an intimate table setting.
By putting thought into your marketing photography, you can create visuals that will really grab attention and inspire customers to learn more about what you have to offer.
5) Make your website look festive.
A little bit of Valentine’s Day flair can go a long way when it comes to marketing your business online. If you have a website, consider adding a few touches to get people in the mood for love. This might include changing your banner or background to something Valentine’s-themed, adding unique graphics or animations, or writing a blog post about how to celebrate the holiday.
Anything you can make your site look cheerful and festive will help create an inviting atmosphere for potential customers.
6) Get involved in the local community or partner with a small business.
One great way to market your business is to get involved in the local community. Participating in events and activities relevant to your target audience can help you reach new potential customers. You might also want to consider partnering with a small business whose customer base overlaps with yours. This can be a great way to form mutually beneficial relationships and increase exposure for both businesses.
For example, you can partner with a restaurant in your local area to provide gift certificates that can be used at either business. This will help you reach new potential customers while also incentivizing them to visit your establishment.
7) Promote via text and email
When it comes to marketing your pawnshop around Valentine’s Day, sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective. Sending a text or email promotion that includes a special discount or deal is one easy way to show love to your customers and increase traffic to your store.
Including an image of a heart in your email signature can also help set the tone for your promotional message and let recipients know that you’re thinking about them this Valentine’s Day.
Whatever the deal, make sure to include the word “Valentine’s Day” in the text and use “romantic language.” In other words, utilize phrases such as “love,” “special someone,” or “heart.”Don’t forget to include the magic words: discount, deal, sales.
Think outside the box and get creative when it comes to marketing your pawnshop during Valentine’s Day! These are just a few ideas to help you get started, but many other possibilities exist. If you put in some effort, you can increase your profits and bring in more customers this year. So go ahead and start planning now – the sooner you get started, the better!
